To run a twin carby side draft setup in a TE with a G200 in it, does the booster and master cylinder need to be moved to the passenger side or can it be done with only shifting the brake fluid resevoir?

I just found a remote brake fluid resevoir and wondered if just that might do the trick.

Hi,

A TX SL master cylinder has a remote resovouir, it is the one to use. ( some brake line work ) The downdraft is a better setup in my opinion. Also, for the side drafts, the original manifold needed mods, or a spacer made. As the casting was not very good, I wouldnt try modding it. A spacer under the thermostat will let you fit a temp sender and the heater connection. Dellortos DHLA ? and Weber DCOE have the same pattern, so either will fit. The downdraft IDF Webber manifold was used by the CDT Gemini's, TE.

Hope this helps. B M

Changing the brake master and booster to the TX remote style reservoir one will give clearance.

Remember though you also need to have the proportioning valve assembly that came with the remote reservoir package and you will need to replace the brake lines in the engine bay for the connections on the early brake master are different to the TF/TG type package.

If you have access to the car the remote reservoir brake package came out of you can just take the metal brake lines to the two front brakes and the rear brake front section. It has a join under the car near the gearbox. Take the connector as well, I have a feeling they may be slightly different from model to model so you make need to change an end on the tube to suit.

Thanks for the replys guys. I just became curious because I saw a carby/manifold setup and a TX remote resevoir on ebay. I was originally going to go with downdraft webers to get around the issue of clearance but didnt have money for the carbys and manifold at the time.

The car's in a million pieces at the moment anyway still getting high filled and welded so I'm in no rush for an engine upgrade. The engine I built for it has barely done a years work!

Thanks again. I'll just keep an eye out for downdraft webers instead of impulse buying. For anyone else interested, these are what I was going to buy.

The TX remote resevoir.

Hi,

My reply was about clearance to fit. A booster / servo is needed, and if you fit rear disks as I did, more pedal pressure again. 44 and 48 is very big, for that size I would want well over 2 litres, and a 10k RPM redline. Standard max horepower is 5200. If you go too big, the bottom end will not be good, only high RPM as the carbs dont have enough airflow to work down low.

Regards B M
