Some things you should note:

Factory paint used on Australian built Gemini cars was Dulux "Duco" brand paint or "Dulon" brand paint. The prefix of the paint code tells us this first part of the identification.

Duco uses the prefix 253 or 256 for solid colour and the prefix 207, 208 or 260 is used for metallic colours.

Dulon uses the prefix 585 or 568 for solid colour and the prefix 587 or 567 is used for metallic colours.

Dulux Duco is a nitrocellulose lacquer developed and used in the auto industry since 1922.
In the 1960s and 70s the automotive manufacturing industry changed to using an acrylic laquer called Dulux Dulon.
In the 1990s Dulux sold the Dulon range to PPG. PPG Dulon is still available today.





Holden paint codes can come in one of three formats.
Here is an example: 1D008/568-15949/1886

The first type has a single number, a letter then a three digit number.. the lead number is the paint type code, 1 being solid colour, 2 being metallic colour, followed by the letter and three numbers which are the shade code.

The second type has a 3 number prefix (the type of paint, 568 being solid colour, 567 being metallic colour followed by a 5 digit shade code.

The third code is a 3 or 4 digit number that is Holden's 'exterior code' number

In these records I don't include the paint type (Duco or Dulon) only the shade number info.

I will do my best to ensure the paint colour sample, Paint name and paint code are correct. I recommend including the year when ordering paint mixes because you do find paint from later or earlier years could be using the same name but a different colour tone.
