Wanted Gemini, also recomendation on gemini restoring parts

Hey currently i have a gemini sitting at home. i really dont know much about cars but i want to make it run a lot better/faster/spray job. though i want to do this without having to spend much money on it. does anyone have any recomendations on what are some good engines etc i could look at buying.
Also i am looking for a gemini which my mate can buy so he can also do one up. would like one which is under 1500$ abouts.
