Wanted TD rear brake drums

I am after a set of rear brake drums. I am having trouble finding the style I need. My brake shoes have the adjuster on the bottom and the drum has to sit under a lip on the backing plate. I think that my TD is an early version and has early model brakes. I have found heaps of another style that have the adjuster on top but they appear to have a slightly different off set and will not fit under my backing plate.

Sounds like you have a Borg warner diff mate and they have a different brake drum. Count the bolts on the back of the diff centre. there will be 8 I reckon. Drums like this are getting hard to find. I have no spares sorry. You can't change the brakes over to later model ones unless you change the mounting bracket for the handbrake cable as the cables are different. Look at the way the cable bolts to the floor. If the cable goes through a bracket secured with a large nut and dust seal it is the old set up. The cable has a lead knob on the end that connects to the handbrake lever attached to the brake shoe right?
Look for a TX being wrecked. I would advise getting the drum machined if you find one as they are commonly out of round.
Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I thought about swapping to later model drums but if I am going to go to the trouble of pulling out the axles I have almost decided to swap over to commodore discs. Thanks again

Why would you want to pull out the axles?
